We aim to disrupt markets by researching and uncovering new business opportunities that leverage the assets and expertise of OTPP portfolio companies.
We define the key aspects of the business, product and venture. We then validate the opportunity and the key hypotheses we’ve outlined along the way.
We determine what we’ll build by outlining the Minimum Viable Product. We build with a focus on speed to market and how we win.
We use an agile approach to build and launch the business with a multi-disciplinary team. We execute on our build plan, launch our GTM strategy and operationalize the business.
Once we've capitalized and launched the business, we continue to advise and support along their journey to scale and beyond.
We build like founders and act like owners. We invest significant capital and sweat equity into everything we build. We don’t bill for our services, we invest in our companies.
The Koru team is made up of diverse backgrounds, multi-functional skillsets and unique perspectives. We are builders through and through and have extensive experience building startups, working in an array of industries and moving at lightning speed.
We leverage the assets, expertise and insights of OTPP portfolio companies to give us unfair advantages in the businesses we build. Koru ventures have a much higher success rate than your average startup because we only build when we have the right-to-win.
Koru is a unique venture studio with a proven, repeatable playbook. We move fast, de-risk opportunities and create game-changing businesses. We build and launch multiple businesses each year and we’re full steam ahead on our next few.
Koru’s offices are located in downtown Toronto. We humbly acknowledge that Koru HQ is located on land that is the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the New Credit, Chippewa (Anishnaabeg), Haudenosaunee, and Wendat. This territory is covered by the ‘Toronto Purchase: Treaty 13’ which was the surrender of the lands from the Mississaugas of the Credit to the British Crown initially in 1787. Koru staff and/or board members are made up of settlers, immigrants, descendants of immigrants, refugees, descendants of refugees or a combination thereof. Our roots lie in continents across the world and we are grateful for the opportunity to share this land where we work and live.
